Week 4: Language as a holistic cultural process

What I found more interesting about last class was the fact that language is considered a product of culture, but at the same time it cannot be separated from all the other cultural dimensions, so language ended up being a holistic or integral part of all the five dimensions. Language is everywhere because we need it to communicate among all of us; it doesn´t matter where are you from, language is always going to be the vehicle to communicate your message. However, this message might be understood different depending on the situation and the culture. So, you always have to consider the fact that eventually you could be misunderstood. As a teacher of culture, to avoid misunderstandings you always have to give clear instructions, and also you have to provide a bunch of examples of the contents that you are teaching to make clear your explanation. Besides, you have to be ready to take a neutral position during class discussions because you are not allowed to give your own perspectives regarding something.
